This one cartoon has had a few incarnations. It originally started as this one. I wanted to play with the word, “Digin” (hard g), which is a word The Today Show made up. It means digitally using your smart devices and social media, tweeting, facebooking, etc.
They are trying to make it part of the English lexicon, but I think it may be too obscure and not many people would get the joke. So I changed it to today’s cartoon about the book running out of batteries and even before that, last week I did a cartoon for the Huffington Post about a kid in school with a homework excuse, you can see that here.
The spell check sees “Digin” as being a misspelled word, so it’s not there yet, but it’s in good company because “facebooking” is not being seen as a proper word, either.
